Native App vs. Website: Which Does Your Business Need?
"Should I build an app or a website?" is one of the most common questions we get. The answer depends on what your business actually needs — not what sounds cooler.
Start with the website
For most businesses, a website should come first. It's how people find you, learn about you, and decide whether to trust you. It works on every device, doesn't need to be downloaded, and is easier to update. If your goal is to generate leads, showcase services, or sell products, a website is the right move.
When an app makes sense
An app makes sense when your users need to interact with your product regularly — daily or weekly. Think fitness trackers, social platforms, productivity tools, or anything that benefits from push notifications and offline access. If your product lives in someone's daily routine, an app is worth it.
The cost difference
Websites are generally faster and cheaper to build. A solid business website can be up in weeks. A native app takes longer — you're building for iOS and Android, dealing with App Store approvals, and maintaining updates. Budget accordingly.
Why not both?
Many successful businesses have both, but they didn't build them at the same time. Start with whichever solves your most pressing need. Get traction, learn from your users, and expand from there.
Quick decision guide
- →Need to be found online? Website.
- →Users interact daily? App.
- →Tight budget, need it fast? Website first.
- →Need push notifications or offline? App.
